Finding a good meeting location for a users' group can sometimes be a challange. The general requirements for a meeting space are:
Some friendly universities can help sponsor events, such as Emory Law hosts the ALE central meeting. Those groups with commercial backing may have an easier time. For instance, Sun (now Oracle's) OpenSolaris has a natural sponsor and meets at Sun's offices. Or Mirant has hundreds of Oracle instances running, so they sponsor the local Oracle Users' Group out of enlightened self-interest. Some groups assemble in meeting rooms at restruants. These can be good, but sometimes noise is an issue, as is relaiable Wi-Fi. What say you? What works well or doesn't? Drop me a line from the contact page and I'll post a summary.
