From their Meetup Page:

The GA 400 Linux Group has been started to allow the casual to advanced Linux users to get together and share ideas, knowledge, and face-time with other Linux users.  We're focused on helping beginning and returning Linux users learn the basics by establishing a solid foundation.  We'll discuss distributions, file systems and storage, installation, databases, networking, and more!

Looks like they have informal weekly meetups at a pizza place, and more formal monthly sessions.

This will be our last meeting until fall at KSU due to logistical complications.  Main topics will be finding an Admin-buddy to keep going through the information with a partner.

    Then...
    • Wk 5 - Pick where we left off; read chptr 3 in the book (101-LPIC-1-admin-en.pdf)

    ** Access Control (Chpt 3)

    • Where: KSU-Marietta Campus, Atrium Building J-215B (same building that we used with ALE-SPSU).

    • Who: anyone can come. Must have at least 6 months Unix/Linux administration experience.

    • We'll be working through LPI-1 Admin training for the next months. Get the materials

    • Cost $0. This is ALE outreach.

    Prerequisites:

    • Ubuntu Server 14.04 and/or CentOS 7.x Installed on the computer you bring. VMs are fine. No GUI. This is an Admin group. 100% CLI.

    • A few months of experience with any Linux/Unix Server OS. Comfortable modifying system settings, sudo, installations. Shouldn't need help installing most software or setting up networking. This is NOT for beginners.

    • manpage use is absolutely mandatory. RTFM.

    • Expect 32 hrs or more of class effort needed. Probably 2-3x more outside class.

    • Please come prepared. Watch the ale-study email list for exercises.

Please RSVP, so we have an idea of how many people are coming, but only if you are 95% certain of attendance.

Get help with installation, administration, or just about any question related to Linux.

No official end time. No presentations. We may work through "how-tos" together.  Attendees set the agenda.  Best to have a server or VM available (local or remote) to install test stuff into.

Bring a laptop and show a project or start something new!  This meetup works best with hands-on questions solved on your equipment.  Usually people will form small groups 2-3 to discuss a topic or work on an issue.

We will meet on the lower level - look for the group with the laptops.

This is a free-form "help each other with linux or linux-related problems", with no fixed agenda and no fixed end-time.

Order food/beverage on your way in, then join us.

Note: this meetup is pre-empted by any ALE Central meeting, typically the third Tuesday of each month.
